Food Stamp Employment & Training Program (FSET) PDF Print E-mail

Availability:  Lake, and St. Louis Counties.

Eligibility: Able-bodied adults age 18 to 55 without dependents receiving food stamps.

Program Description: FSET is designed to assist low income individuals, generally without dependents and ineligible for cash assistance, with job search and employment enhancing activities that will lead to self-sufficiency and an exit from public assistance.

The services provided mirror those of MFIP.  Unlike MFIP, FSET recipients do not face a five-year time limit, but some counties require participants to earn Food Stamps after three months through paid employment or unpaid community work experience activity.
