Food Stamp Employment and Training (FSET) Program

Availability Lake, and St. Louis Counties.

EligibilityAble-bodied adults age 18 to 55 without dependents receiving food stamps.

Program DescriptionFSET is designed to assist low income individuals, generally without dependents and ineligible for cash assistance, with job search and employment enhancing activities that will lead to self-sufficiency and an exit from public assistance.

The services provided mirror those of MFIP.  Unlike MFIP, FSET recipients do not face a five-year time limit, but some counties require participants to earn Food Stamps after three months through paid employment or unpaid community work experience activity.
